Dear Crossview Family,
We are have reopened for onsite worship services!
Yes, it is true… and I am excited. The reason that I am excited may surprise you. I am not excited because we are “returning to normal.” To be honest, there is no returning to the way things were and “normal” is a moving target in this COVID-19 world. The reason that I am excited is because of the opportunities that lay before us created by this necessary “pivot.” “Pivot” is either a person or factor that influences direction… a turning point. I believe that in the case of COVID-19 this affords us, the church, an opportunity to address issues and accelerate in ministry effectiveness. It has forced us out on our status quo methods and mentality. We are now “feeling” the importance of community when we may have taken it for granted. We now have the freedom to abandon ineffective practices that, at one time, may have been “best practices.” We can now emphasize the things that we have done well and rediscover our core purposes. May we seek the Lord with our whole hearts, walk in holiness, and share the good news of Jesus in a world that is living in fear… fear of either an invisible virus or fear of an incremental loss of freedom, in an attempt to have a sense of security.
I may sound like a broken record, but repetition is important in order to ensure clarity in communication. If you are sick, watch and worship from home via our live stream. If you are in a “high risk” category, make an informed decision when choosing to either come and worship or remain at home and worship. For those who have weighed the costs and benefits of coming in person, considering your personal and family situation, be aware that some people will be wearing masks and some people will not be wearing masks. Do not judge one another on either extreme as being either paranoid or reckless. Strive to be sensitive to one another by avoiding shaking hands and maintaining social distance. Please cooperate with ushers as they will be assisting you with seating. Please attempt to arrive early to avoid disrupting our live stream video. Please be prepared for a new flow in the order of service as we attempt to honor both on-site and remote worshippers. We will have face masks available for those who do not bring their own but would prefer to wear one. We want singles, couples, families with children, and seniors to know that they have options. I hope that you will have a wonderful worship experience whatever choices you make. Let us keep our focus on the Lord while being kind and gracious with one another, with our different personal perspectives and comfort levels.
I look forward to seeing some (if not many) of you again this Sunday.
